MS Dhoni trains till midnight ahead of CSK vs MI clash, Sam Curran calls it ‘unbelievable'

As Chennai Super Kings gear up for their IPL 2025 opener against Mumbai Indians, the team’s legendary former captain MS Dhoni is leaving no stone unturned in his preparation. Sam Curran, who has rejoined CSK after a stint with Punjab Kings, recently shared an incredible revelation about Dhoni’s commitment to the game.

In an interview with Sky Cricket, Curran described a surreal late-night training session at the CSK camp. "The other night I was batting with MS and Jadeja (Ravindra Jadeja) at 11:30 PM. I was thinking, where in the world would you do this? The lights were on, and we were just smacking balls everywhere," he recalled.

Curran also highlighted Dhoni’s undeniable aura, noting how young local players simply sit and watch him bat in admiration. Despite stepping down as CSK’s captain last season, Dhoni remains an influential figure in the dressing room, offering guidance to both experienced players and newcomers.

One of the traits that have defined Dhoni’s career is his composure, and Curran emphasized how that quality still shines through. "His calmness, the big moments he’s been involved in—he never seems to panic. He never really shows too much emotion," Curran added.

Beyond the cricket field, Dhoni’s humility and openness continue to make him one of the most respected figures in the sport. "Even in the hotel, his door is always open. Guys go and play FIFA with him, chat cricket, and just hang out. He obviously can’t leave the hotel much because he just gets absolutely mobbed," Curran said, referring to Dhoni’s immense popularity.

With IPL 2025 set to begin on March 23, CSK will take on Mumbai Indians in a high-voltage clash at Chepauk. The season opener will be played between defending champions Kolkata Knight Riders and Royal Challengers Bengaluru. While Dhoni has handed over the captaincy to Ruturaj Gaikwad, his influence on CSK remains as strong as ever.
